Talk about motivation…!
Do you sometimes need a sharp stick poking you to get moving on a perfectly good goal or dream?
Pain is one form of motivation.
Can we motivate without sharp pokey things jabbing us onward?
We humans generally do things for 2 reasons, either to stop pain or have pleasure.
Seems simple enough.
Jot down 20 things you do, then write the word pain or pleasure next to each.
Go ahead and do it now, I’ll wait.
Add up your pains & pleasures and you will start to get a picture of your personal motivation style.
It doesn’t matter which style it is, it’s simply the key you need to unlock your door to motivation.
Are you a carrot or a stick type?
If you are a pain motivator, then set up your goals with fines and duties, all filled with nasty stuff you don’t want to do so that the pain is so great you’ll get ‘er done.
If you are a pleasure motivator, set up those goals with gifts, awards, treats, with stuff you really want!
Set that goal high and reward attaining it with that ipad you have been drooling over.
Make it worth it!
Choose one big goal for this month. Don’t go overboard; not a whole list of things.
Only choose 1.
Set up your motivating factor, be it pain or pleasure.
Then close your eyes, take a deep breath and begin.
